worship changes me
Music has always been a part of my life. My dad is a musician and plays guitar, banjo, and mandolin. I started piano in 2nd grade. Band in 7th grade with nothing less than the alto saxophone!
Met a cute bass player in college. 😍 Who later became a worship leader and has worked in the Christian Music industry for over 20 years. Our oldest son also is a musician and plays almost anything his hands can touch with the latest being steel guitar. Music plays in the car and in our home almost constantly: country, rap, screamo, hip hop, bluegrass, jazz, rock, contemporary pop, you name it.
But, the music that moves me most- that changes my heart and soul – is worship.
Scripture says that God inhabits (is enthroned by) the praises of his people (Psalm 22:3). God is always present, but I have never felt God more fully present than in worship.
When I worship, it changes my focus. It takes my eyes off of my own circumstances and places them on God who is in control. I can celebrate all that God is doing in me and around me.
When I praise, it changes my discontented heart into full and overflowing. I can declare the goodness of God!
Just like this clip from the #worshiptogether conference,
Whatever you are fighting today, maybe it is simply a cold or maybe it is a greater battle, turn on some worship music. At home. At the office. In the car. In your earbuds. And keep singing out to God. Keep praising. Keep fighting, my friend.
