What is your greatest distraction?

Yesterday, this furry beast plopped his squeaky toy down on my Bible right in the middle of my quiet time!

.

What a great illustration! Carving out a quiet pause with God is hard enough in the middle of busy schedules without adding in all the distractions.

.

Distractions are not inherently evil. They can be as simple as a cute dog wanting to play fetch, but still draw us away from precious time with God.

.

Maybe that is why Matthew 6:6 (NLT) encourages us to “go away, by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to the Father in private.” We need that personal time and space away from all distractions to hear the still small voice of God.

.

What is one of your greatest distractions to quiet time?

.

Find a quiet spot, turn off your phone, close the door, put the dog out of the room, if necessary. Don’t let distractions keep you from spending time with God. He is your strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
