press on toward the goal

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the next writing prompt #goal is this scripture: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:14 NIV

.

Some days I feel like Paul: hard pressed on every side, perplexed, persecuted, struck down. With Christ, I am not crushed, not in despair, not abandoned, not destroyed. My hope can remain strong. It is my anchor. (2 Corinthians 4:7, Hebrews 6:19)

.

Regardless of my writing goals, or health, finances, career, or whatever other goals I may set, I must press on toward the prize of Christ. This goal must remain first. Whatever this life on earth brings, whether it is joy or heartache, laughter or tears, then I can say Christ is enough for me.

.

Christ is my reward

And all of my devotion

Now there’s nothing in this world

That could ever satisfy

Through every trial

My soul will sing

No turning back

I’ve been set free

.

Christ is enough for me

Christ is enough for me

Everything I need is in You

Everything I need

.

Christ my all in all

The joy of my salvation

And this hope will never fail

Heaven is my home

Through every storm

My soul will sing

Jesus is here

To God be the glory
