peace be with you

After Jesus resurrection, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to visit the tomb. There, they saw the Angel of the Lord sitting on the stone that had been rolled away.

He said, “I know you’re looking for Jesus. He isn’t here. He is risen.”

Matthew 28

Headed to tell the disciples the news, Jesus met them and greeted them. To my knowledge, he met these women first -before any others.

When they saw him, they ran to him (with focus), grasped his feet (kneeling down in surrender) and worshiped him. Then, the first recorded words that he spoke were once again the message he had shared during his ministry:

“Do not be afraid.”

He later saw his disciples on several occasions and said, “Peace be with you.”

Fear and peace can not co-exist nor can worry and trust.

Right here, right now in a world where fear is running like wildfire through our lives. Where fear is the message that sells. Where fear is the headline for every news story. Let us run to Jesus with focus, kneel down in surrender, and worship while He speaks these words to our hearts:

“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” ~ John 14:27
