my prayer for today

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

Dear Lord,

We have been under a safe-at-home order for over 6 weeks. It’s 2020 – the year the world stopped for a while. COVID-19 has ruled. We all have questions, concerns, opinions, and losses. This season has slowed most of us down in ways we never expected. It has impacted every single person from the youngest child who can’t see her grandma to the oldest grandma who can’t see anyone. We are all grieving, battling the losses…some greater than others…but felt deeply just the same…jobs, freedom, finances, schools, time with family and friends, church services together, celebrations, sports, activities, movement, choices, schedules, quiet, senior years, opportunities, vacations, events, health, and even life itself. There have been moments for some of us where tears leak for no reason at all it seems, yet so many unspoken reasons we are carrying in our hearts. Others have responded in outbursts of frustration and anger. All of us trying to make sense of it all. Control it. Reason it out.

Even in this uncertain, unexpected, uncontrollable season, we have seen your goodness and the goodness of others. So this morning, I pause to thank you, Lord. COVID-19 did not surprise you. It may be in the spotlight right now, but you are THE LIGHT that is always working behind the scenes, even in the darkest places.

Satan may want to use this to rob our joy and peace, but you say “do not be anxious for anything.” Our peace does not come from this world, it comes from you. Let us lift our voices in prayer and worship, spend time in your Word and give thanks for all you have done.

So today, Lord, I choose to give thanks during COVID-19, it has been hard, but you have been good and faithful.

Join me now in lifting up an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord. My list is growing!🙌🏻🙌🏻 I bet your list will, too!

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
