just like granny

This is my granny.

Wasn’t she the cutest ever? She was born in 1908 and died in 2001. Her life spanned almost a century. You can imagine all that she experienced especially during that time period.

My granny lived a simple life. She retired early and was my baby sitter until I started school. Then, she became my chauffeur for after school activities. She was my greatest cheerleader and fan.

I never heard her complain about not having enough….although by the world’s standards she had very little. A tiny house built in the 1930’s….she kept it neat and clean. She loved gardening, flowers and working in her yard. Simple things!

She was the best cook and made the most beautiful pies. She didn’t shop for clothes unless necessary and she didn’t eat out. She was the happiest when her family was piled in her little kitchen around her table for dinner (of course, she would call it supper 😉).

She didn’t do a thousand things. She did a few things well.

It’s her birthday month of March. So I thought I would take some time to look back. To look at what I learned from her and share some of those life lessons over the next few weeks. Because in my heart, I have always wanted to be…just like granny.
