How to Keep Right on Going

I usually like to start a new journal in the beginning of the year. But I had so many pages left to fill in my current one. Maybe it is appropriate. It’s not like all that happened in 2020 just vanishes off the scene. In fact, it seemed to just march right on into the New Year for our family.

So I continue on in this journal with "2021 starts here". A new year. We all hope for a fresh start, a do-over, a new beginning, something different than the last, something better, bigger, brighter. Not the same that came with 2020. Although 2020 was filled with as many ups as downs. As many blessings and battles. Praise God for that! Yet, there is so much expectation with clean blank pages to fill in a new year.

Many years, far too many, I have put my hope in the turn of a pages in my planner, in the strike of a clock at midnight, at the dropping of a ball to announce a new year. I have often longed for change. Hoped for a happier, healthier year than the one before.

Yes, I have hoped. Then found many times that January comes in much the same way as the previous year… maybe even harder and heavier at times.

How do we keep right on going when that happens?

Like Moses, we have to keep our EYES on the ONE who is INVISIBLE.

“It was by FAITH that Moses left the land of Egypt,

NOT FEARING the king’s anger.

He KEPT RIGHT ON GOING because he kept his

EYES on the ONE who is INVISIBLE.”

Hebrews 11:27NLT

God no longer gives me a word for the new year, He gives me a phrase. I guess I need a little more help staying focused than others. haha. He gave me that phrase in early December because He knew what I would need it with the start of this new year.

God knew that this year I would need to fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. For my light and momentary troubles are achieving for me an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). Because FAITH is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)

Wherever my eyes are fixed is where my attention is focused.

In order to keep right on going, in faith, without fear, I must keep my EYES on the ONE who is INVISIBLE.

My eyes must stay fixed, set, focused on the ONE who goes before me, the ONE who stands beside me and behind me. I can keep right on going in the ups and downs, the blessings and battles of a new year, because I have a hope that anchors the soul, a faith that is eternal. I have a God that keeps His promises, that never leaves me and never fails me.

In this new year, as I continue to fill the pages of my journal, I will choose to keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8 NIV) I will keep right on going in faith, not fearing.

"Because of this my praises rise to the King of all the universe who is indesctrubile, invisible, and full of glory, the only God who is worthy of the highest honors throughout all of time and throughout the eternity of eternities. Amen." 1 Timothy 1:17 TPT
