Finding Light in the Darkness

As the light filters in my window through the leaves of the elm tree this morning, I am reminded that God’s light shines through the shadows. When it seems that life is growing dark or the shadows are filled with uncertainty, and we can’t see clearly, we must focus our eyes and find the light.

John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Even when we walk through the darkest valley, we have a light and salvation. We have no reason to fear. (Psalm 27:1)

He gives us glimpses of light along the way.

If we focus, we can see it filtering through the shadows.

It may be a scripture that jumps off the page because the unfolding of the word gives light (Pslam 119:130).

It may come as a call or prayer from a friend, a surprising sunset or a song.

The darkness will never be fully dark when we focus our eyes on the One who is the Light of the World. Jesus.
