An Eternal Promise

Isaiah 9:6 has given us a glimpse into a prophecy long ago that held four promises for us today. These promises are precious gifts that were fulfilled with the birth of Jesus.

For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulders.

And His name will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In the last few weeks, we learned how Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor and our Mighty God.

Let's explore the third promise - that Jesus is the Everlasting Father, the Father of Eternity.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

Jesus said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Revelation 22:13

"He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17

He has been since before the beginning of time - long before that stable in Bethlehem - and He will be forevermore - holding all things together.

He is eternal and by His sacrifice on the cross, we have the promise and gift of eternity as well.

If you have never opened the gift of eternal life - by admitting that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, by believing that Jesus came to offer forgiveness, and by confessing that He is Lord and committing to follow Him - don't waste another precious minute. Unwrap the most beautiful gift ever given this Christmas.

I would love to know if you made that decision today. Email me @ aquietpause@gmail.com.
