The First of Four Christmas Promises
One of the most read scriptures during the Christmas season (aside from the birth of Jesus) is Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV):
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
A prophesy that held four promises.
Let’s unwrap the first promise today.
Jesus came to this world to be a wonderful counselor to all who believe in Him.
There is no better counselor for He already knows what is in our hearts (John 2:25) and He knows our thoughts (Matthew 12:25; Luke 6:8, 9:47).
He sent us the Holy Spirit (John 15:26), paraclete in Greek, which means a counselor, encourager, advocate, comforter and helper to lead us in all truth (John 14:16-17), help us in our weakness (Romans 8:26), and teach us all things (John 14:26).
Isn’t that exactly what a wonderful counselor does?
Encourages. Comforts. Helps. Teaches.
In the busyness of the season, take a quiet pause with the wonderful counselor, Jesus.
Let Him comfort your mind, fill your soul, and encourage your spirit.
He is Emmanuel, God with us.
Merry Christmas, sweet friends.
