hope

I love warm weather. Wet, wintry weather is not for me. It seems like it will never end. The cold. The gray. Then, even in the midst of the cold, the first blooms appear just like this dandelion or daffodil. Bright yellow, sunshiny blooms bursting through the drab, dreary backdrop of winter. Bringing hope that a new season will soon be here. This one won’t last forever.

That is what hope does. It brings a feeling of trust. Of expectation.

“Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the HOPE that lies before us. This hope is a strong and TRUSTworthy anchor for our souls.” Hebrews 6:18 NLT

As a ship drops anchor, it holds firm and secure despite the wind and waves. We, too, can rest firm and secure in confidence to the hope that lies before us despite the season. The hope that is a strong and trustworthy anchor. That hope is Jesus.

“So now wrap your heart tightly around the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises!”

Hebrews 10:23 TPT

Just like the first bright blooms peaking through the gray of winter, Jesus is the hope that breaks through the gray patches of our souls. He whispers hope to our hearts as we begin to see blooms of new life. Once again the old is gone and the new has begun.

“Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!”

Romans 15:13 TPT
